DJ Spank Master BoogieWhat makes a party lively? And who makes a party lively? They are Music and the DJ! Good music chosen by a nice DJ is the perfect combo indicating that the event is going to be a success. So far, I have experienced this with only a few events, and the parties emceed by DJ Spank Master Boogie are amongst them. This is the guy who will be coming up with his full length album Cotton Candy Glowsticks.

DJ Spank Master Boogie used to call himself DJ Almighty Ski in his early days as an emerging music-maker, while he also called himself Almighty Poet while emceeing, which together shorted for as DJ ASAP.

The Beginning

The real beginning of Spank Master Boogie’s career was when some of the buddies from his college in Ohio, like Swan Kay and DJ Roeyalty helped him in establishing a recording studio in the dorm, equipped with a 4 track recorder and a Casio keyboard sampler triggered by the keys. This was the place where numerous songs were recorded which he performed on campus at a number of parties and concerts at the gymnasium and Paul Robeson auditorium.

Hip Hop Maniacz

It was the second semester of freshman year of Spank Master Boogie in the Central State University when an American Iraq Gulf War Veteran named him “Hip Hop Maniacz” and his career took a new turn. He released plenty of outstanding cassette singles, albums, CDs and e.p.s like “And We Don’t Stop”, “Trunk Jazz”, “Come on Baby” and “Slangin’ Bean Pies”. In the course of time he developed a solo career in late 1996.

1st Rank as a MC

In the MC battle at the University of Minnesota – “Hip Hop Olympics” – which was hosted by DJ Abilities who was a fellow cratedigger of Spank Master Boogie and Atmosphere – a local artist – Spank Master Boogie grabbed the 1st position as a MC.

Recordings and Collaboration with Other Notable Artists

Hip Hop Maniac (Spank Master Boogie) has recorded and collaborated with many notable artists like Njeri Earth (female MC/Producer), Marshall Jones (Lead Bass) from the Ohio Players, Eminem, Indigenous Tribe, Big Mo, Atiya Bridgette, Jah Akeem (Electronic Weapons), Catisha Marsh, 7 Star and Kwansi alias Unkal Bean – an upcoming MC/Producer from Chicago via LA.

Performances

Hip Hop Maniac went on to produce the Batco Squad and went on a mini-tour. He was hailed as a “Mixtape Pimp” in Detroit for his underground musical launches and especially for staying always “fresh”. Over the years he did numerous live shows, a very notable being Seton Hall University and others in Canada.

In Canada, he was hailed as a No. 1 single because of his tenacity in being a recording artist. He recorded in some of the best studios in the Twin Cities, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, Canada, Florida, New Jersey, Chicago and Detroit. While learning to become extremely professional, he maintained himself always fresh.

He is always busy in films, TV shows and other exclusive events and has already scheduled a tour for spring, summer and fall of 2014, and winter and spring of 2015 for the newly launched Cotton Candy Glowsticks.

Secret Behind Being Fresh

Hip Hop Maniac can keep himself always fresh because he keeps transforming his musical climates and adapts, upgrades and parties with the best of them, while maintaining originality. It was at this time, when he changed his name to DJ Spank Master Boogie but kept the moniker by which he was the most famous.
