The Most Acclaimed Movies of 2017
In a blink of an eye, 2k17 has passed without us even noticing. Many movies came out during the year, but only some of those managed to attract the public eye and build the anticipation with amazing marketing and carefully built trailers, bits and pieces that always leave us wanting for more. Now, that this year has come to an end, it’s time to draw the line and pick out the best of the best. Based on reviews, public response and, undoubtedly, somewhat subjective standpoint, these are the movies that made us run to the theatres and left us wanting for Blu-ray and more afterwards.
3) It
This movie, aka It: Chapter One is a movie directed by Andy Muschietti. It is based on the novel of the same name, written by Stephen King and published in 1986. This American horror movie is about 7 children terrorized by this being, and in these circumstances they face their darkest fears and demons. Before the movie in 2017, It novel was adapted into a miniseries in 1990. It is officially the 10th highest grossing film of 2017, which is impressive. It came out of nowhere and rekindled the almost forgotten genre of supernatural horrors. Many argue that the book is much better, because the fear built up in the head of the reader is much more real and because of that, scarier for an individual. I must say that the only way to know is to watch the movie and decide for yourself. IMDB score: 7.6
2) Thor Ragnarok
No major spoilers ahead, I promise! After discovering that he has been stranded on a planet of rejected people and having to take part in gladiator fights, Thor has to face both his former friends and new enemies in order to survive the harsh, new reality that has dawned upon him. Director Taika Waititi completely changed the tone of the movie, and the audience will meet a brand new Thor, forged in a new reality, destined to overcome the biggest difficulties yet. This Thor solo superhero movie, based on the Marvel’s Character Thor (as many of you may have guessed or known) is the sequel to Thor: The Dark World (again, Thor solo movie) from 2013. This makes Thor Ragnarok the 17th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is the 7th highest grossing movie of 2017. Will you become a fan of this reborn Thor? See for yourself!
