Matthew Hoffman was a man found guilty of killing a 13-year-old girl’s family and holding her hostage and stuffing their dismembered bodies in a hollow tree had a fascination with trees as well as leaves, police evidences show. Pictures of Matthew Hoffman’s home reveal a living room full of leaves, a bathroom with over 100 bags of leaves, and a freezer that contained two dead squirrels and only two red popsicles.
Hoffman, 30, is getting a life sentence for three murders and for the abduction and rape of the teen. The two Mount Vernon police officers, Ohio, who first entered Hoffman’s home in 2010’s November found heaps of leaves so high they feared that bodies could be buried underneath them. Hoffman’s passion for leaves indicates mental disorder. John Thatcher, the Knox County Prosecutor, said that the numerous bags full of leaves discovered in the home were in no connection to the killings.
“An event like this has been never seen by Knox County before. It should be ranked among the worst homicide cases in Ohio’s history,” said Thatcher. Hoffman’s mania for trees and leaves was an indication of mental sickness and delusion, as said by the Forensic psychologists. “If only trees gave him comfort and were known at all, that would make clear why he would place the bodies inside the tree,” said Northeastern University’s Dr. James Alan Fox who has penned five books about serial killers. In this week’s episode of Deadly Sins, Christian Massa and Brandon Ruckdashel give a breath taking performance!
